OFFICIAL FORECASTS " The Press ” Special Service WELLINGTON,‘June 16. The weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: an anti-cyclone is centred over the Tasman Sea and extends over New Zealand. Pressure is low to the south. The forecast is for moderate variable winds, north-westerlies predominating inland and north-easterlies on the coast. Weather fair, apart from isolated showers above Banks Peninsula. Temperatures cold. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is: Moderate westerly winds. Weather cloudy and cold, with scattered showers, chiefly in the south. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The week-end in Christchurch was fine •nd mild, with bright sunshine after light morning frosts. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was overcast and there was a light north-east breeze. The barometer, at 29.95 inches (1014.2 millibars), was falling.
