DAYLIGHT THEFT
£167 TAKEN FROM OFFICE IN HAMILTON <P.A.) HAMILTON, June 13. A daring robbery took place at the office of the C. D. Street Construction Company, Victoria street north, yesterday afternoon. Two men entered the office, where only one assistant, Miss Shirley Parsons, aged 17, was on dpty The men asked for work, but Miss Parsons said there was no one but' herself In the office. They then pushed back the counter flap and entered the main office One man struck Miss Parsons on the face and pushed her into a side room, shutting the door upon her The men then made off with a bag containing £167 in cash made up in pay envelopes which had been lying on the table. Miss Parsons was so frightened that she was unable to give the alarm for a considerable time, waiting until the other assistants returned to the office. Seniqr-petective W R Mp l 'ray and a party of police are conducting ’widespread inquiries, but no arrest has yet been made.
