WESTMINSTER ABBEY WEDDING
DUCHESS OF GLOUCESTER’S NIECE (N.Z. Press (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, June 12. The earliest sightseers arrived outside Westminster Abbey at 8 a.m. for the wedding this afternoon of Lady Elizabeth Montagu - Douglas - Scott, daughter of the Duke of BuGcleucli and niece of the Duchess of Gloucester and the Duke of Northumberland, at which Their Majesties, the Princesses, Queen Mary, and the Duchess of Kent were present. Eventually, police reinforcements were necessary to control the crowd, which, though mainly women, included many Empire servicemen. A payty of Australian sailors in the crowd, after the arrival of the bride, broke through the police reinforcements, but the arrival of mounted police restored control. The bride wore a diamond and pearl coronet, which is a Buccleuch heir*loom, and three rows of pearls, a gift from the bridegroom. She carried a white prayer book, but no flowers. Her Gress was of parchment-coloured satin, with a veil about three yards long.
