SEEPAGE AT SEADOWN

Sir.—l was not surprised to read ih a recent issue of ‘‘The Press” that difficulty had been experienced at Seadown in preventing seepage by draining. There are obvious reasons for water rising to the surface, even alongside drains. This problem could be solved by using other methods in conjunction with drains. I have never heard mentioned what I consider to be the cause of 95 per cent. Of all seepages. The best method to solve a problem is to know the cause. I would suggest, that a model be made that would cost about £5O. If it were fitted with a glass lid it would permit people to see what happens underground to cause the water to rise to the surface. Then the best counter could be applied.—Yours, etc., . OBSERVER. June 10. 1946.
