SOUTH WESTLAND TO THE FORE
INTER-WANGANUI DAIRY CO.’S SUG CESS AT OTAGO WINTER SHOW.
The manager, staff, directors and suppliers of the above Company have every reason to be proud of their success m the Butter Classes at the Otago Winter Show held at Dunedin recently. With an exhibit in eight classes, this Company was successful in gaining first prize for every entry with 95 points in each class, also the South Island Championship for most points in all classes. This is a remarkable achievement and goes to prove the truth of remarks of various speakers, at the recent Annual Meeting of Federated Farmers held in Hokitika, when discussing a remit on the potentialities of the district. t t The judge’s remarks, viz.:—‘ The quality of the exhibit in each class was outstanding,” and must reflect great credit on the manager, Mr L. V. Clark, who has only just completed his first full season at Hari Hari Included in the prize list was the First Assistant Class for the A. and P. Society’s Shield and Mr J. Phillips also must be complimented on his success. These excellent results were obtained under more adverse conditions than prevail in most as owing to the long distance some of the credm is carted this company only collects on alternate days, and on this result much credit is due to the suppliers. While most factories are showing a decrease on last year’s working, this company has increased its output by 18 tons, and given proper assistance, railway, electricity and further inducement J for young men to take on dairy farming, this company has the background to make it the largest dairy factory in Westland.
