AUSTRALIAN UNIONS’ ACTION

SUPPORT FOR PROPOSED STRIKE SYDNEY, June 12. All American non-urtion ships reaching Australian ports after next Saturday will be declared black, according to the decision of the Federal Council of the Waterside Workers’ Union. The ban, which exempts food and relief ships, was made at the cabled request of the combined American maritime unions, which plan to begin a national strike on Saturday., American shipowners are expected to replace the striking crews with nonunion labour. Union officials in Sydney say that all the waterfront unions, including the painters and dockers, will support the ban on American ships in Australian ports.
