SKELETON FOUND

DISAPPEARANCE OF YOUTH 34 YEARS AGO RECALLED (P.A.) HASTINGS, June 12. The discovery of the skeleton of a man on an Ongaonga farm may afford a solution to the 34-year-old mysterious disappearance of Leo Burnett, then aged 18, a cowbdy, who did not return to his whare on the old Gwavas station one day in 1912. The skull had an unmistakable bullet hole in it. and a rusted rifle barrel was found nearby Bones found on the side of a gorge led to further investigations, and digging revealed most of a skeleton. Burnett, whose father at that time was a Woodville lawyer, was keen on shooting and usually carried a rifle with him.
