The blast shook Russell like an e^ rl quake, and the sound was hearo » far distant as Otehei Bay. The nu went ashore at Brampton reef, ano five miles north of Waitangi, at nig tide late yesterday morning. demolition party, which was searc ing by sea in the Rawhiti a r ea , on J£ g south side of the Bay of Islands, recalled, and crossed to BranjPrL reef, where the mine lay a * ew clia from the shore.—(P.A.)
