MR LANGFORD'S FIRST TASK
INDUSTRIAL SURVEY OF CHRISTCHURCH DUTIES TO BEGIN NEXT WEEK Mr T. H. Langford, who has been released from his duties as No. 4 Transport Licensing Authority, will take up his new appointment as public relations officer to the Christchurch City Council on Monday next. This was announced yesterday by Cr. J. L. Hay, chairman of the Christchurch Expansion and Development Committee. Cr. Hay said Mr Langford would tackle at once the task that was regarded as of the greatest importance to the industrial development of Christchurch—the collection and analysis of information regarding available sites and facilities for industries. In this he would work in close collaboration with the City Engineer (Mr E. Somers). Cr. Hay said that inquiries were constantly being received from other parts of New Zealand and from overseas regarding the availability of land for factories and new industries in and around Christchurch. It was essential, if Christchurch was to take full advantage of the opportunities thus presented for Industrial development, to have a complete body of information readily available.
