AIR SERVICE OVER TASMAN

BETTER CONNEXIONS WITH INTERNAL LINES No additional Tasman air services, except for the greater frequency of flying-boat crossings between Auckland and Sydney, are contemplated, according to the Minister in charge of civil aviation (the Hon. F. Jones). Mr Jones made this comment when a statement by Mr Hudson Fysh, managing director of Qantas Empire Airways, was referred to him. Mr Fysh. addressing a Royal Aeronautical Society meeting at Sydney, said New Zealand-operated services would link Auckland, Wellington, and Dunedin with Sydney, Melbourne, and Hobart. Mr Jones said he had not seen a report of Mr Fysh’s address. However, he took it that Mr Fysh was referring to proposed extensions of internal services. in both Australia and New Zealand. which would give better connexions with the flying-boat service. A general improvement in the service would eliminate delays that occurred at present
