CONSIGNMENTS OF FAT
EMERGENCY COMMITTEE’S INSTRUCTIONS COUPON SAVING FIGURES FOR WEEK The Christchurch Famine Emergency Committee last evening drew attention to the fact that fat, raw or rendered. may be consigned direct to Famine Relief—Belfast.” In districts where famine emergency committees are operating it is preferable that all rat should be consigned through the committees, but direct consignment is in order. Railage is free and cartage contractors and bus operators in most districts have offered free carriage. Figures computed yesterday show that the number of butter coupons surrendered in this district has increased by more than 200 for the last week. The number of meat coupons, on the other hand, shows a decided decrease,
the latest figures being 18,064, compared with 25,244 last week. “There must be no further slackening in this part of the famine emergency effort,” the committee stated. “While we are collecting fat and advocating the avoidance of waste, it must be remembered that the surrender of meat and butter coupons is the most important part of the present campaign.”
