OBITUARY
CAPTAIN A. WALLACE Captain Alexander Wallace, whose death occurred at Timaru last week at the_age of 76 years, was widely known in South Canterbury. Born at Skarfskefry, Caithness County, Scotland, he went to. sea at the age of 12, and secured his master mariner’s ticket when he was 26 years old. During his 26 years at sea, Captain Wallace served with many shipping companies, and traded throughout the world. In 1908 he left the sea and settled at Pleasant Point, and his wife and family came out.from Scotland the following year. Four years later, he bought a farm at Ealing, which he worked successfully until’ 1929. Captain Wallace then retired in Timaru. In 1937 he paid a visit to England, Scotland, and the Continent. His wife died a little more sthan a year ago, and he is survived by four sons. MR C. B. SINEL J , AUCKLAND, June 10. lhe death has occurred of Mr Clarence B ? bot Sinel, aged 47, president of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association, and a member of the Economic Stabilisation Commission. Born in Auckland, he went to the first world war at the age of 18. Subsequently he became manager of Prestige Millinery, and later managing director of M.K. Manufacturers. He also joined the directorate of the Colonial Ammunition Company. He was chairman of the district executive of the -Rehabilitation Loans Committee.
