ARCTIC MANOEUVRES
U.S. ARMY TO TEST EQUIPMENT WASHINGTON, June fl. Emphasising the United States Army’s interest in the Arctic area, 4500 troops next winter will test tanks, self-propelled guns, radar, clothing, and stores, under all possible winter combat conditions. One group will operate for seven months from October 1 from Fairbanks. Alaska, where temperatures of 80 degrees below zero are recorded. A second group will be based on Adak in the Aleutians.
