OBITUARY

SISTER M. ALOYSIUS Sister M. Aloysius McDonnell, whose death occurred at Lewisham Hospital, Christchurch, recently, was one of six sisters who became Sisters of Mercy, She had been a member of the Order of Mercy for more than half a century, and had taught in the Convent schools of Greymouth and Christchurch. She was predeceased by two sisters belonging to the X)rder— Mother M. Agatha (Christchurch Diocese) and Sister M. Baptist (Singleton, New South Wales). She is survived by two brothers, the Rev. Father Hugh McDonnell (New South Wales) and Mr Edward McDonnell (Greymouth), and by three sisters, Sister M, Stanislaus and Sister M. Clare (Christchurch), and Sister M. Colombierg (Singleton, New South Wales). Requiem Mass for Sister M. Aloysius was celebrated on Saturday at St, Mary’s Church, Christchurch, when his Lordship Bishop Lyons presided at the throne. ‘Die celebrant was the Rev. Father Stewart, SM., the Rev, Father Timoney (Papanui) was deacon, and the Rev. Father Alan Kennedy, S.M., sub-deacon. The ceremonies at the graveside were conducted by the Rt. Rev. Monsignor Kennedy (Beckenham).
