Forecast to 5 p.m.: fresh to strong easterly to north-easterlv winds. Weather dull, with intermittent rain; some heavy falls likely about and north of Banks Peninsula later in the day. Temperatures moderate. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate south-westerly winds gradually prevailing. Weather cloudy and showery. Temperatures moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather yesterday was overcast With a moderate north-east breeze. The maximum temperature was 53.1 degrees. At 1 o'clock this morning the weather was 6vercast and showery, with a light north-east breeze. The barometer, falling sharply, registered 29.45 inches (997.3 millibars).
