The weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: a complex depression in the north-eastern Tasman Sea is moving southwards, as the recent anticyclone moves away eastwards. The forecast is for north-easterly winds, becoming strong at times during the day near the coast; elsewhere moderate to fresh. Weather overcast, with some rain developing in the Alps during the day and spreading to the plains towards evening. Temperatures moderate. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Winds becoming fresh to strong north-easterlies. Weather dull, with rain developing and becoming heavy for a time later in the day. Moderate temperatures. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER '.fter a frost of 16.8 degrees, Saturday Was fine and sunny. Yesterday there was a frost of 11.3 degrees, and the city remained shrouded in fog until the early afternoon.
