HURUNUI SEAT
NATIONAL PARTY CANDIDATE
MR W. H GILLESPIE THE ONLY NOMINATION Mr W. H. Gillespie, the present member, was the only nomination received for the Hurunui electorate when nominations closed with the Hurunui Electorate Committee of the National Party last evening. Mr Gilwon the seat a margin of 1588 votes from Mr J W. Morgan (Labour) in the 1943 General Election. Mr Gillespie is a farmer, of Bennetts. RICCARTON COMMITTEE OF NATIONAL PARTY Delegates from all branches of the electorate were present at the inaugural meeting of the Riccarton Electorate Committee of the National Party. Mr T. N. Gibbs, chairman of the Canterbury division, presided. Mr H. G. Livingstone was elected chairman and Mr E. P. Wills deputy-chairman. The chairmen of branches and women delegates will form the executive. It was decided to present a campaign plan at the next meeting of the committee.
