Tpe weather forecast for Canterbury, issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: an intense anti-cyclone covers New Zealand. Forecast to 5 p.m : light, variable winds, northeasterlies prevailing on the coast. Weather fine, though cold. WEST COAST The torecagi tor the West Coast oi the South Island is:— Moderate easterly winds, tending te north-easterijt tVeaiber fine, with moderate day temperatures. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER After a frost of 15.1 degrees yesterday msraing, the weather was fine and ealm The maximum temperature was 52.1 degrees. At 1 o'clock this morning the sky wfs almost cfear and the wind was a very light norti*rfvester|y. The barometer at 30.37 in (1023.4 millibars), was steady.
