Mr Mikolajczyk has repeatedly denied charges that his party is linked with terrorism.
U.S. RELATIONS WITH VATICAN
CHURCHMEN PROTEST TO MR TRUMAN
(Rec. 7 p.m.) WASHINGTON. June 5. A deputation of 11 Protestant Church leaders, representing 30,000,000 church members, conferred with Mr Truman, urging the severance of all diplomatic relations with the Vatican. Clergy of seven denominations presented resolutions asserting that the appointment of a Presidential representative to the Vatican was unauthorised and unconstitutional.
The deputation included Bishop Bromley Oxham, of the Methodist Church, Dr. L. de v, Newton, presi-
dent of the Baptist Convention, Dr. J. A. B. Fry, president of the Lutheran Church, and Dr. W. B. Pugh, of the Presbyterian General Assembly. Dr. Newton said the deputation had no quarrel with the Roman Catholic Church as such, but protested against an entangling allianc’e with the Vatican which was a Church State and for centuries had been embroiled in the political feuds of Europe.
