Admission of Refugees
The announcement that New Zealand had expressed a desire to open her doors to refugees, made in the report of the United Nations Committee for Refugees, does not indicate a change in Government policy on immigration. According to a reliable authority, the Government adheres to its view that housing problems must be solved and ’former servicemen rehabilitated before immigration can be encouraged. The Government’s immigration policy applies to refugees as well as to other types of immigrants.
