TOBACCO SUPPLIES

Sir, —Why afe the country people penalised regarding tobacco and cigarette supplies? My storekeeper informs me that he has many new registered customers but his tobacco quota remained the same as before. I think this very unfair, as country people have not the opportunities of being in the town when tobacco and cigarettes are issued. The town people have their registered grocers to obtain their tobacco not to mention numerous tobacconists and shops which have their daily tobacco queues. Is it impossible for the issuing authorities to raise the quota of country stores, or are they just another section of the community who delight in seeing country people go without. If we were working the 40-hour week it would enable us to stand in queues, etc., but working between 90 and 98 hours a week leaves little time for tobacco hunting.—Yours, etc.. WINTER MILKER.
