APPOINTMENTS AND PROMOTIONS (P.A.) WELLINGTON. June 17. The following appointments and promotions of officers of the New Zealand military forces are gazetted to-night:— Staff: Lieutenant-Colonel (temporary colonel! V. A. Young, Royal Artillery, relinquishes the appointment of commander of artillery. Southern Military District, and the local rank of colonel on his return to the United Kingdom. Temporary Major T, A. Turner, New Zealand Artillery, is granted the acting unpaid rank of lieutenant-colonel while employed on the staff of a staff college. New Zealand Army Nursing Service; Sister G. C. Portcous, to be temporary matron while holding the appointment of matron of a North Island camp hospital. Commands; Temporary LieutenantColonel R. H. Bell. New Zealand Staff Corps, relinquishes the command of the Canterbury Yeomanrv Cavalry Regiment, and is attached” for duty to the adjutant-general's branch. Army Headquarters Temporary LieutenantColonel A. J. Nicoll is appointed to command the Canterbury Yeomanrv Cavalry vice Colonel Bell. Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel T. Y.
