THIRD LIBERTY LOAN
Canterbury Response £520,497 SUBSCRIBED Christchurch investments in the Third Liberty Loan have now reached the half million mark. The total to date is £520.497. which is made up as follows:—Stock, £467,530: bonds, £17,025; national savings, £35,952. A feature of this Joan is that subscriptions are coming in more quickly than for the last appeal. Turnbull and Co., Ltd. .. 500 The head office of the New Zealand National Mortgage and Agency Company, Ltd., at Dunedin, has invested £25.000 in the loan. Reports were received from six different R.N.Z.A.F. units near Christchurch yesterday of first instalments of investments in the loan. The first unit has provided £1550, the second £1032, the third £914, the fourth £640, the fifth £507, and the sixth £4OO. In scrip, bonds, and national savings the total for these units comes to £5043. A sum of £IOOO will be invested m the Third Liberty Loan by the Waimairi County Council. LIBERTY LOAN TARGETS CANTERBURY DISTRICT’S AREA Following are the targets of towns within the Canterbury district for the Liberty Loan:— Christchurch (metropolitan area, including Belfast, New Brighton, and Sumner), £3,099,000. Akaroa, £17,000; Amberley, £19.000; Arthur’s Pass, £2000; Ashburton. £293 000 Chertsey, £4000; Cheviot, £18,000; Coalgate, £4000; Culverden, £9000; Cust, £6OOO. Darfield. £16,000; Dunsandel, £9000; Duvauchelle, £3OOO. Hanmer Springs, £9000; Hawarden, £19,000; Hinds, £5000; Hororata, £12,000. Kaiapoi, £62,000; Kaikoura, £42,000; Kirwee, £4OOO. Leeston. £43,000; Lincoln, £9000; Little River, £14,000; Lyttelton, £77,000. Mayfield, £5000; Methven, £28,000; Mount Somers, £4OOO. Oxford, £30,000. Parnassus, £2OOO. Rakaia, £43,000; Ranglora, £107,000; Rolleston, £3OOO. Sefton, £7000; Sheffield. £10,000; Southbridge, £17,000; Springburn, £7000: Springfield, £6OOO. Tai Tapu, £7000; Tinwald, £2OOO. Waiau, £10,000; Waikari, £9000; Waipara, £BOOO. Total. £4.100,000. The National War Loan Committee has suggested that any town can ascertain its target by multiplying the town’s annual savings quota by eight. The table above applies only to those centres, of course, within the Canterbury district committee’s area.
