Colonel the Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes returned to Christchurch from Wellington yesterday. Captain C. J. Holland-Martin, A.D.C.. to the Governor-General (Sir Cyril NewalD arrived in Christchurch yesterday. A motion of sympathy with Cr. W. J. Walter, who is ill in the Christchurch Hospital, was carried by the Waimairi County Council last evening. Mr John Stewart, chairman of the organising committee of the Canterbury Reclamation Board, was accorded a vote of thanks at the last meeting of the board, for his services when he was acting as secretary, from the inception of the board until the appointment of Mr I. J. Wilson. Mr T. H. Lan'gford, No. 3 Transport Licensing Authority, returned from the North Island yesterday, Lieutenant-Colonel H. G. Livingstone returned to Christchurch yesterday from the north. Mr H. W. Kitchingham, of Greymouth, yesterday completed 60 years as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court. He was admitted to the Bar at Nelson by Mr Justice Richmond on June 16, 1883. After six months at Hawera, he went to Greymouth, and has been in active practice | there since 1884.
