BLACK-OUT TRIAL
COMMITTEE DECIDES ON PERSONNEL CHECK “I really think that we should have a trial as soon as we can reasonably get one,” commented the Mayor (Mr E. H. Andrews) at a meeting of the central committee of the E.P.S. in Christchurch yesterday. The training unit executive submitted a report to the executive that a black-out trial be held during July, and that all sections be asked to turn out to assist in the check-up of lighting. It was also mentioned that four black-out trials would be held in four South Island centres this month. Members thought it advisable that there should be a cheek-up on personnel, as so many; previously enrolled had either gone into the Army or the Home Guard. It was decided that the recommendation be approved, also that the date should be fixed by the executive. The committee resolved that the trial should be on as full a scale as possible.
