TROTTING NOTES
Remits to Conference Handicapping will provide the main topic for discussion at the annual conference of representatives of trotting clubs, to be held In Christchurch on August 6. The Auckland Trotting Club wi present the following remit; That full consideration be given by the handicapping committee to the proposals of th,e combined New Zealand Owners and Breeders’ Association for revision of the handicapping system,’’ and this will be supported by the New Brighton Trotting Club, auggestlng that the conference appoint a sub-committee to consider the present handicapping system and to meet the handicapping committee with a view to amending the system and removing anomalies. The New Brighton Club will go further and will suggest the reduction of penalties in slow class races, the deletion of certain clauses, the cancellation of the Handicappers’ Confidential Standard Table, and the Total Average Money Won Table, and that the handicapping system, when completed, be published in its entirety in the Handicapping System Book. Trotting Expenditure n „ For the year ended May 31, the New Zealand Trotting Conference paid £9lB 9s 3d in handicappers’ fees, £842 11s 3d to racecourse Inspectors, and £2490 13s lid to stipendiary stewards, while travelling expenses amounted to £290 10s 6d. The balance-sheets shows an excess of income over expenditure of £416 16s 2d. The Provident Fund Claims paid from the New Zealand Trotting Association’s Provident Fund for the year ending May 31, amounted to £505 10s 2d. Oates of Race Meetings A list of dates for race meetings to be approved by the New Zealand Trotting Conference includes the following applications by Canterbury Clubs: New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club, August 21 and 28, and November 6 and 13; New Brighton Trotting Club, September 4 and October 9, and Methven Trotting Club, October 2.
