COMPANY NEWS Woolworths Properties.—Woolworths Properties, Ltd,, advise that a dividend for the half-year ended June 30, 1949, has been declared at 8 per cent, per annum on preferred and ordinary share capital, payable on July 15, 1943. —P.A. Dominion Breweries.—Dominion Breweries’ net profit this year was £36,479, compared with £25,972 in the previous year. Taxation absorbed £187,238 of the company’s earnings, an increase of £82,808, and the gross profit was £383,405, against £273.015 in 1942.-P.A. MINING Associated Gold Dredges (N.Z.), Ltd.— For the week ending June 12 this company’s dredges recovered 1540z from 52,500 yards in 289 dredging hours. . The dredges worked a day short because of the the King’s Birthday holiday, Austral-New Zealand.—'Austral - New Zealand, for the 28 days ended June 12, operated for 470 hours, treating 277,000 yards and producing 5340z of refined bullion—P.A. STOCK SALES RANGIORA There were improved entries at the weekly stock market at Ranglors yesterday. Values were:— Sheep—Two-tooth wethers, 91s to 84s. Cattle.—Springing heifers, £l2 15s; spring calvers, £7 to £l4 IQs; store cows, £3 to £6 10s. Pigs.—Stores, 33s to 375; weaners, 12a to 17s. ASHBURTON Prices were fairly steady at last week’s rates at the fortnightly stock sale at the Ashburton yards yesterday. There was a fair yarding of fat ewes, but few cattle were entered, and the entry of lambs was poor. Ewes made from 10s lOd to 39s 4d: lambs, 24s id to 27s 40; wethers. 25s 3d to 35s 4d. In the fat cattle section steers sold at £l2 12s 6d to £ll 12s Bd, a cow at £6 7s 6d, and a heifer at £8 19s. lorneville (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, June 15. Values for wethers at the Lornevilje sale to-day showed an Improvement of about 3s, but prices for freezing ewes remained unchanged. Good quality mediumweight wethers sold from 33s 6d to 35s 6d, light-weight 30s to 31s Bd, smaller and unfinished sorts 28s to 20s, prime young ewes up to 26s Bd, good quality butchers ewes 23s 6d to 24s 6d, medium 21s to 22* 6d. and freezing ewes 13s to 16s. Extra good quality lambs realised up to 31s, good quality 26s to 27s 6d, and values generally ranged from 20s to 22s 6d. Values for better quality flit cattle were easier compared with last week * sale. Light-weight steers and heifers were definitely easier, and at times were almost unsaleable, Prime quality heavy-weight bullocks sold from £lB 5s to £l7, good quality medium-weights £l4 Ss to £ls ss, handy-weights £l2 10s to £l3 10s, light-weights £9 15s to £ll, and unfinished sorts £7 10s to £8 10s. Extra prime heifers made from £l2 15s to £l3 15s, good quality £lO 5s to £ll, medium £8 10s to £9 10s, and light-wieghts £7 to £8 ss. Extra good cows brought from £lO 5s to £ll 10s, good quality £8 15s to £9 10s, medium £8 10s to £7 10s, and aged £5 5s to £5 15s. RABBITSKIN SALE “ The Press" Special Service DUNEDIN, June 15. At to-day’s rabbitskin sale approximately 53 tons were offered. Demand generally was not so strong, particularly for autumn grades, and these in most cases realised substantially lower prices. The levy came into operation, and as a result buyers’ limits were adjusted accordingly, Allowing for the application of the levy, the market as compared with values ruling at the previous auction can be quoted as follows:—Winter bucks, 6d to 9d per lb, lower, winter does par to 6d per lb firmer, autumns 12d to 24d per lb lower, racks 9d per lb lower, low grades firm.
