CANTERBURY UNION Th* North v. South Island match will be played in Wellington on August 14, according to advice received by the management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union last evening. There will be two selectors for each Island, and Warrant Officer P. W. Storrey was nomlnted as one for the South Island. "Big games are being played in England during war time, said the president. Mr E. V. Phillips, "and here the playing of the North-South Island match Is a way of raising finance to help the unions that have suffered.” The competitions committee’s report said that Air Force A and R.N.Z.AF. had been drawn to meet at Rugby Park on Saturday with an under 7-stone grade match as a curtain-raiser, while Anny A and Athletic-University would play at Lancaster Park. Warrant-Officer Storrey said the game between the two Air Force teams would be a big draw-card and should be played at Lancaster Park. Mr W, C, Maxwell said the competitions committee had gone very carefully into the draw and had decided that it was the turn of the Army and Athletic-University teams to play at Lancaster Park. Mr V. Jensen; There should he no suggestion of a "turn." The best Same should be played at Lancaster Park, and the next best at Hugby Park. Mr Punne said that senior players should provide the curtain-raiser. The union had a lot of money invested in Rugby Park but was making no effort to popularise it. A motion that the report of the competitions committee be adopted was carried on the casting vote of the chairman. Permission was granted to the Canterbury University team to play Training College to-day and Otago University on July 7. Hamberger); Hor bye, —6 ASSOCIATION CODE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE A decision to invite a team from Wellington to play a senior match against a Canterbury representative team at the opening of English Park was made at a meeting of the management committee of the Canterbury Football Association. Messrs K. Johnston and E. Hall were appointed the managers of two schoolboys teams which will visit the West Coast from August 22 to August 28. It was also decided to send a secondary schoolboys’ team to Dunedin to plav against a similar team from Otago. The sacretary (Mr C. Sanderson) was instructed to send a letter of thanks to the Buffer Football Association for their entertainment of a Canterbury team which recently visited the West Coast
