GENERAL ELECTION
NATIONAL CANDIDATE FOR FRANKLIN (P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 14. A meeting of delegates of Natioiifll Party branches in the Franklin district was held at Pukekohe, when Mr J. N. Massey, the sitting member for the electorate, was approved as the candidate for the party in the coming General Election. The meeting agreed that Mr Massey should have freedom of action in accordartce with Mr S. G. Holland’s public statements that he would support the party on all motions of confidence. PATEA SEAT “ The Press ” Special Service NEW PLYMOUTH, June 12. Mr W. A. Sheat, Pihama, has been selected as a National Party candidate to contest the Patea seat, for which the present member, Mr H. G. Dickie, is not seeking re-election. A poll was conducted by the electorate selection committee at Wayerley last evening, in which Mr Sheat beat Mr F. J. Bilton. Waverldy. The candidates each gave a 30-min-ute address to 61 delegates, representing branches from Aramoho to Mangamingi. Mr W. Morrison, Maxwell, presided, and Mr T. Hills, Wellington divisional secretary, conducted tne contest, which was the first of its kind to be held in the electorate for 18 years. -
