BUILDING CONTROL
REGULATIONS AMENDED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 10. An amendment to the Building Emergency Regulations gazetted this week makes it an offence against the Supply Control Emergency Regulations. 1939, to proceed with any constructional work in respect of which a permit is required from a local authority without first obtaining permission, Similarly, it makes it an offence to do work otherwise than in accordance with the permit. The Minister of Supply (the Hon. D, G. Sullivan said it had been found that where buildings had been commenced without a permit, penalties could not be applied under the supply control regulations. The only possible action had been under local building by-laws, and the penalties in these cases were Inadequate.
