TIMARU TROTTING CLUB
REQUEST FOR REINSTATEMENT OF SECRETARY The Canterbury Owners and Breeders’ Association, Christchurch, has asked the president and committee of the Timaru Trotting Club to reconsider its decision to dispense with the services of the secretary, Mr H. H. Fraser. In the course of its letter the Association states: “We, as a body, feel we are competent to judge that the change of secretary will have an unfavourable effect on the affairs of the club. Mr Fraser’s untiring attention to nominations and acceptances has been the direct cause, in many instances, of the strong support given your Club’s programmes, and it is probable that his absence may react adversely on future meetings. “If our letter can do anything to influence you in the direction of reinstating Mr Fraser in his old position, then we shall take it as a personal reward for each one of us. He brought to his office dignity, competency, and an immense capacity for winning goodwill for the club, and we are at a loss to find an adequate reason for the passing over of a man of such qualities as these.” .
