N.Z. Engineer in Alaska The “Anchorage Times.” of Anchorage, Alaska, slates that credit for a vital role in the construction of the nation's fourth longest railroad tunnel was given to Mr Anton Anderson, civil engineer, of Anchorage, when a “Holing Through” ceremony was held at Whittier. Mr Anderson had the responsibility of steering the tunnelling crews during the year of tunnelling so that they would meet. The bores varied in elevation by only half an inch and were out of line’'by only a little over an inch. Mr Anderson, who left the West Coast for Alaska more than 20 years ago, is a brother of Mrs M. Drummond (Wallsend), Mrs C. Mason, Miss M. Anderson, and Mr J. Anderson (Greymouth).
