DOMINION’S MEAT PRODUCTION
OFFICIAL FIGURES OF SEASON’S KILLINGS
The official figures of killings for the present season at the Dominion’s freezing works from October 1 to May 15, issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, show that lamb killings now total 10.172,224 carcases, compared with 10,299.260 carcases to May 16 last season. Wether mutton killings were 544,002 carcases, and ewe mutton killings 1,608,783 carcases, compared with 749.695 and 1,887,841 carcases re«nectively last season. Details of the lamb and mutton killings in the North and South Islands, with figures for the previous season in parenthesis, are as follows:—Lamb (North Island), 5,548,789 (5.494.834) carcases; (South Island). 4.623.435 (4,804,426); wether mutton (North Island). 492.314 (669,931); (South Island). 51,688 (79,764); ewe mutton (North Island), 1,131,921 (1,125,167); (South Island), 476,862 (762,674). . . t . . Frozen beef production has reached 410,545 quarters, compared with 399,710 last season.
