COLLAPSE OF WHIROKINO BRIDGE
(P.A.) PALMERSTONNN t June o. Grounds for belief that fatal results attended the collapse of the Whirokino bridge on Thursday night are steadily growing less as widespread inquiries fail to reveal a lorry or other vehicle not accounted for. It is possible that vegetables seen floating in the vicinity came from gardens upstream. Salvage work is proceeding and the sunken part of the structure has now been removed to the bank, but the two motor vehicles have yet to be lifted.
