Under the win and place system of betting the following horses may race prominently:— Longbeach Handicap.—Desmond's Pride, Believe Me. Doll Axworthy. Trial Handicap.—i-ady Biigh, Traverse, Guidance. All-Aged Stakes.—Peter Smith, Springfield Globe, Loyal Rey. Tlnwald Handicap.—Jack's Pal. In the Mood. Highland Scott. Winter Handicap Joan Conquest, Chatraos, Worthy Cross. TROTTING NOTES The Sapling Stakes Last year the New Zealand Sapling Stakes was won by Captain Morant who, driven by P. G. Holmes, defeated the Auckland-trained Karnak (F. J. Smith) by a neck. Radical (O. E. Hooper) was third, and Nola Scott (G. B. Noble) fourth. This year Holmes will drive Bonny Bridge, a gelding by Grattan Loyal—Bonny Logan, owned by Mr G. Aitcheson. Bonny Bridge has done little up to the present, but such a well-bred gelding may be well worth support. Donald Dlnnle, a gelding by Quite Sure from Morewa, has only started twice, but in the Timaru Stakes In March he showed a lot of speed after losing ground at the start. He looks likely to develop into a good stayer. A Useful Pair Netherby finished second only half a length behind his stable-mate, Bel Hamed, In the Timaru Nursery Stakes, and with him and Leonln in the Sapling Stakes, M. Holmes has a useful pair. Holmes has won mqst of the principal classic races In New Zealand more than once, but his only winner In the Sapling Stakes was Arethusa in 1930. All-Aged Stakes The All-Aged Stakes last year was won by Loyal Hey from Burt Scott. Shadow Maid, and Ronald Logan, but of the whole field that started 12 months ago Loyal Rey is the only one engaged In Monday’s race. His win last year was his third in successive starts, but he has not been successful since, Unruly Horses Reporting to the New Zealand Trotting Association last evening on the behaviour on the race track of the trotter Magic Task, Mr A. Commons,, stipendiary steward, recommended the horse for a place on the schooling list. "She never leaves the mark correctly," wrote Mr Commons. "She interferes with nothing because she and her habits are too well known." Tantareva and Peter Pointer were also the subject of adverse reports by Mr Commons, and Mr J. Shaw, in his report on the Oamami Jockey Club's meeting, said that Terry O'Shea had behaved very badly, and careful notice should be taken of his future behaviour, It was decided to notify the owners of the horses mentioned that a close watch would be kep< on their behaviour in future.
