EMPLOYEE FINED £7/10/-
* INDUCED TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT (P.A.) AUCKLAND. June 4. The first case of its kind in the Auckland district was heard when Desmond Robert Bruce Sherer, aged 18. ap. peared before Mr F. H. Levien, S.M., on a charge of behaving toward his employer, New Zealand Products, Ltd., in an insulting, embarrassing, or offensive manner with intent to induce his employer to take steps for the termination of his employment. The Assistant-District Manpower Officer (Mr T. G. Fielder) prosecuted. The defendant, who pleaded guilty, had been employed at tomato-pulping and had worked satisfactorily until recently when he made two attempts to leave the industry, said Mr Fielder. He had then told his foreman that he was going to get away by hook or by crook, and used obscene language in front of a woman employee. He had been suspended, and was now in another industry. The defendant said that he had lost his head. Describing the defendant's action as that of a blackguard, the Magistrate imposed a fine of £7 10s.
