Fraser) announced to-day that it », now possible to state that in addition, to New Zealand forces being stationed' , *•. in New Caledonia th?re are New Zealand garrisons in Tonga Island and Norfolk Island. New Zealanders, he said, were also taking a prominent part in the defence of Fiji. . All these forces had New Zealand* commanders who came under the command of Admiral Halsey. '
