Mr K. W. J. Hall was elected yesterday as the delegate of the North Canterbury district of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union to the Dominion conference to be held in Wellington in July. The Rev. C. T). C. Caswell has been appointed priest-in-charge at Phillipstown Anglican Church, according to a notice in the “Church News.” The Rev. C. W. I. Maclaverty has been appointed assistant-priest at Sydenham, and the Rev. G. H. Schurr is to resume his duties as vicar of Te Ngawai. Mr A. M, Carpenter, of Fernside, was elected president of the North Canterbury district of the Farmers’ Union by the provincial conference yesterday. He succeeds Mr R. G. Bishop, of Southbridge, who has retired after three years as president. Messrs K. W. J. Hall and M. M. Fleming were elected vice-presidents. The election of the new executive of the North Canterbury district of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, which was announced at the annual provincial conference yesterday, resulted:—Messrs F. J. Farquhar (Amber! ey), D. N. Waghorn, R. Bruce (Banks Peninsula), W. Stewart (Cheviot), L. R. C. Macfarlane (Culverden), J. H. Syme (Darfield), J. H. Skinner (Dunsandel). R. T. McMillan (Ellesmere), G. King (Fernside), J. W. Earl (Hawarden-Waikari), K. W. J. Hall (Hororata), G. Brown (Kaiapoi), L. D. Adams (Malvern), W. C. Miller (Motukarara), J. J. Wyllie (Omihi), J. E. H. McGrath (Oxford), H. T. Metherell (Sefto'n and districts), M. M. Fleming (Tai Tapu), C. G. Gardner (Waiau), J. Hughey (Waikuku-Wood-end), S. G. Farquhar (Waimairi), W. H. Overton (West Melton), T. A. Guy (Yaldhurst). Still to be elected are the Cust-West Eyreton and Springston members.
