A MANPOWER QUESTION
Sir,—A. has a position and enters the armed forces, and is replaced by 8., who, after some months, is directed by the manpower authorities into another position, and is replaced by C. Can 8., in the event of his being able to leave the position into which he was directed, demand the temporary position now held by C.?— Yours, etc., WAGER. Westport, June 1, 1943. [When this letter was referred to the officer in charge of the Department of Labour, Christchurch (Mr R. T. Bailey) he said that because the position is a temporary/ one . the answer to this question is no. B is not entitled to C’s job.]
