FATAL EXPERIMENT WITH REVOLVER
LONDON, June 2. While actresses were being entertained at an officers’ mess after performing in a north-western flying school, Flying Officer Lyn Rees, aged 25, shot himself dead when repeating an experiment he saw performed in the film "Honky Tonk.” Rees picked up a revolver, borrowed a live cartridge, and began spinning the chamber, stating that he was working out the chances of the cartridge finishing in the correct firing position, An orderly officer shouted to him to stop, but after spinning the chamber several times, Rees put the revolver to his head and pulled the trigger. The cartridge was in the correct position. A witness at the inquest to-day told the coroner that there had been four similar accidents after the exhibition of the film in other places. The coroner hinted that he would take steps to have the film withdrawn. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
