NEW ZEALAND’S CASUALTIES
—♦ TOTAL TO APRIL FIGURES FOR THIS WAR AND LAST From Our Parliamentary Reporter WELLINGTON, June 2. Total New Zealand casualties in the, Navy, Army, and Air Force to the end of April were 25,372, compared with 43,023 at the comparable date in 1918, the end of March. These figures were given to-day by the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) when his attention was drawn to a statement by Mr Attlee in the House of Commons. Mr Fraser said that the figures of casualties for New Zealand forces quoted by Mr Attlee were for the first three years of the war. fill the end of August of last year. The latest New Zealand casualty figures, to April, were as follows: Air Army. Navy. Force. Deaths .. 3,705 299 1,664 Missing .. 530 103 339 Prisoners .. 7,668 28 319 Wounded (including accidentally injured on active service) 10,351 66 300 Totals .. 22,254 496 2,622 The following table gives a comparison of New Zealand casualties in all services last war and this:— To March, To April, 1918. 1943.
