MINOR FIRES

In the early hours of yesterday morning the Christchurch Central Fire Brigade received a call to a house occupied by Mr James Hannan at 147 Holly road, St. Albans, where fire had broken out in a mattress. Little damage was done to property before the outbreak was suppressed. The brigade received a‘ call to a chimney fire at 143 Ferry road, Woolston, at 6.6 p.m. on Monday. Whangarei Appeal.—As a result of a campaign to raise the Whangarei and district contribution to the Patriotic Fund £10,671 . was subscribed.
