Mr and Mrs 0. H. Gibson, 30 Piko crescent, Riccarton, announce the engagement of their only daughter. Myrtle Julia, to Bruce, youngest son of Mr and Mrs J. Monk. Kaikoura. Mr and Mrs W. R. Caverhill, St. Albans, announce the engagement of their eldest daughter, Margaret, to Alan More, of Wellington. WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FARMERS’ UNION Halswell.—A talk on her travels in Paris was given by Mrs H. Brake at the monthly meeting of the Halswell branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union. Mrs T, Chapman presided. Competitions were won as follows; Cheese scones; Mrs Saunders 1, Miss Watson 2, Mrs Copping 3. Child’s patchwork apron: Mrs Ell 1, Mrs Saunders 2, Mrs Gardiner 3. Single bloom; Mrs Gardiner 1. Mrs Chapman 2. Cluster of blooms: Mrs Candy 1, Mrs Stow 2, Mrs Ellis 3. Tea hostesses were Mesdames Gates and Parlane.
