VICEREGAL (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 31. The Governor-General to-day received Rear-Admiral T. S. Wilkinson, United States Navy. The Canterbury University College Council yesterday received confirmation of the following reappointments to the council from the University of New Zealand;— Parliamentary electoral roll, Mr Clyde Carr; teachers’ electoral roll, Mr W. C. Colee; Court of Convocation roll, Sir Joseph Ward and Mr A. A. G. Reed; school committees’ roll, Mr J. Wyn Irwin. These were the only nominations and no election was necessary. Tributes to the work done by Mr K. Mackenzie during his 29 years as chairman of the Geraldine County Council were made by members at the annual meeting of the council, when Mr Mackenzie was re-elected for his thirtieth consecutive term. On the second day of the meeting of delegates of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association the following resolution was enthusiastically carried; "That this Dominion council of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association desires to place on record its appreciation of the conspicuous and outstanding services of the Hon. W. Perry to the Returned Services’ Association, and reaffirms its confidence in him as Dominion president of the association.” When Mr Perry was later nominated for election as Dominion president for the ninth consecutive year, his re-election was acclaimed with musical honours.—(P.A.) Mr I. J. Wilson, who has succeeded Mr H. W. Armitage as secretary of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association, vas welcomed at a meeting of delegates last evening. Mr Armitage resigned because of ill-health.
