OFFICIAL FORECASTS
[THE PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, September SO. The weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough, issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows - Moderate northerly winds prevailing and later freshening. Some rain probable in the back-country, but weather otherwise fair, and mild. Seas slight to moderate.
WEST COAST The following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island: —
Moderate to fresh north to northwest winds. Weather dull, with rain probable, and some heavy falls. Mild temperatures. Rather rough to rough seas.
DOMINON The following is the Dominion forecast:—
Weather cloudy to overcast in districts with a westerly aspect from Taranaki southwards, with intermittent rain and some heavy falls in Westland. Fair to fine in eastern districts and the far north. Temperatures mild. An anticyclone is still centred over the northern extremity of the Dominion. Pressure is falling, however, over south-eastern Australia and the southern Tasman Sea.
Winds—Northerly to north-westerly predominating; light in the far north and moderate elsewhere, but freshening about and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Moderate to rather rough south of Cape Egmont and about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Northerly to north-westerly winds, moderate in the northern portion, with slight to moderate seas: fresh to strong in the southern portion, with rough seas.
CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER
The weather in Christchurch yesterday was mainly overcast, with occasional sunshine. There was a fresh north-easterly wind.
At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was cloudy and there was no wind. The temperature was 50 degrees, and the barometer was steady at 30.15 inches.

Auckland—Another day of fine but cloudy weather was experienced yesterday, the- wind being light from the south-west and the maximum temperature 68 degrees. The barometer was high and steady, with a reading at 5 pjn. of 30.34 inches. Wellington—The weather yesterday was cloudy with intermittent sunshine in the morning, but at midday the sky became overcast and threatening. There was a moderate northerly breeze. The minimum temperature on Thursday night was 43.5 degrees, and the maximum yesterday 59.5 degrees. At 3 p.m. the temperature was 55.7 degrees, and the barometer recorded 30.186 inches.
Dunedin —The sky was dull and overcast yesterday, and several light showers fell during the morning. With a fall of pressure the light to moderate north-east breeze of the last few days fell away to a calm, the barometer dropping to 30.10 inches. Temperatures were mild, the maximum being 54 degrees
