Ohe (political ftmt&n CONDUCTED BY THE CHRISTCHURCH BUSINESS GROUP OF THE NEW ZEALAND NATIONAL PARTY. LABOUR ON THE RUN! “COLONEL” SEMPLE SOCIALISM STATE FARMING A few reasons why Labour is on the Run, as the last MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS showed; 1. KARL MARX was the father of SOCIALISM and COMMUNISM. Both are RED doctrines. 2. Though not the same, they are Political Brothers with substantially the same principles. 3. Both doctrines LEVELDOWN and do not LEVEL-UP! ( 4. If, as Mr R. M. Macfarlane says, Lab o u r’s Socialism means Socialisation of the means of Production, Distribution and Exchange, then, FARMING being our principal means' of Production in New Zealand, it therefore follows (a) That the farms will be socialised if Labour rules; or (b) That Mr SAVAGE & Go. are not Socialists ; but .though they seek to HIDE their Socialism we know they are! That is why (i) The FARMERS WON’T VOTE LABOUR at any price; and (ii) Mr Savage has to plead so much when he uses more of the State Broadcasting Service than he should f 5. DEFENCE SCANDAL. As to DEFENCE at Dunedin “Mr Savage said the Government had done a lot in the last three years.” (“StarSun,” 30/9/38.) PURE CAMOUFLAGE! II If it has, where are our trained Infantry and Machine-gunners in the present CRISIS? It is nonsense for Mr Savage to compare Defence Expenditure in the last 3 years of Grave Crisis with expenditure in Depression Years or years when BRITISH Policy was DISARMAMENT!!! The Labour Govt, left its men UNTRAINED to face a W ELLTRAINED enemy and did little until Defence Leagues and Public Glamour FORGED it to. “COLONEL” SEMPLE leading a Battalion and Mr Webb prepared this time to give little value to his life if War came, are poor substitutes for an ANZAC. PUZZLE: Find Infantry in New Zealand. 6. A QUESTION. Why does Mr WoII, Vice-Pres. of AMERICAN FEDERATION ' OF LABOUR (4 Million WAGE EARNERS) in his pamphlet of 3/3/38, “The Real Remedy,” explain that the TWO FOUND ATIONS of the AMERIGAN LABOUR MOVEMENT ARE (1) A firm belief in the system of INDIVIDUAL INITIATIVE and PRIVATE ENTERPRISE with Labour receiving its fair share. (2) An Honest Job in PRIVATE INDUSTRY. 7. WHO CAUSED PROSPERITY? FARMERS and MARKETS! Exports ending 31/3/32: 33 Millions. Exports ending 31/3/38: 65 Millions. Yet we are told LABOUR created it. Labour is on the run and knows it
