RUGBY FOOTBALL
w SENIOR SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNEY TO-MORROW The Canterbury Rugby Union's season will conclude to-morrow with a first-grade seven-a-side tournament, for which all the senior clubs have entered. This will be interspersed with various sports events, including a teams' relay, goal-kicking, dribbling, and sprints. The first athletic event begins at 1.30 p.m., and the seven-a-side at 2 p.m. ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL ENGLISH CUP SEMI-FINAL TO-MORROW Technical Old Boys, 1937 Hurley Shield winners, will play Nomads, 1938 | winners, in the semi-final of the English Cup Association football competition, at English Park to-morrow. Of ■ last season's champion side, Technical will have only four members in tomorrow's game. The gaps have, been filled by promising young players, who have improved steadily during the present season. After Nomads' poor form last Saturday, the Technical team would'seem to have a good chance of contesting the final with Western on October 8. The difference in the scores when H.M.S. Achilles beat Nomads 3-1 last Saturday flattered , the local team. Nomads' poor showing can only be contributed to staleness after a prolonged season. Fixtures for the remainder of the. season are:—October 8: 10.30 a.m., South Canterbury primary school, teams v. Canterbury primary teams; 1.30 p.m., South Canterbury v. Canterbury B; 3 p.m., final of English Cup between Western and winners of the Technical v. Nomads'match.
