"Mutiny of the Elsinore" and "Dancing Feet"
Years ago, one of the greatest hits of the silent screen was a screen version of Jack London's famous novel, "The Mutiny of the Elsinore." Now the picture has been refilmed as a "talkie," and according to reports is even'.' more thrilling :with dialogue. Acknowledged by admirers of Jack London to be his most exciting and popular story, "The Mutiny of the Elsinore*" which is coming to the Plaza, tells of life aboard a windjammer, of the .hardships and dangers that the sajlors on these romantic vessels have to face. •
Kathleen Kelly is the sole feminine member of the cast of "The Mutiny of the Elsinore." It was distinctly a case of "beauty and the beasts," for the casting director of the Argyle company had rounded up a crew for "The Elsinore" that looked villainous and rascally in the extreme. Kathleen Kelly appears as the daughter of the skipper of "The Elsinore," the "Hell-ship," and plays opposite Paul Lukas, who is seen as an author, sailing on the vessel in • the hope of getting some, authentic copy for a new book. When mutiny breaks out, he
finds all the excitement and all the copy he requires. Lyn Harding appears as the tough bullying first mate, "Mr Pike." and a strong supporting cast includes such well-known players as Clifford Evans as a. gangster fleeing from justice, and taking a job as a common seaman aboard the windjammer; Pat Noonan, the celebrated Irish actor; Michael Martin Harvey, Ben Soutten, and a whole host of others. The film was directed by Roy Lockwood. . .Gay, musical dancing romances are extensively popular with screen audiences to-day, an outstanding example being the success that attends the presentation of the Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers productions. Now comes another sparkling romance with a brandnew dancing team. This is Republic Pictures "Dancing Feet," with Eddie Nugent and Joan Marsh as the romantic dancing couple, and Ben Lyon and Isobel Jewell heading the cast. Eddie had rhythm in his dancing feet, and Joan, in addition to an abundance of "it," had a guardian who was determined to keep her among the "best people" of his selection.
