HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY AT NEW BRIGHTON
♦ ■ The monthly meeting of the NewBrighton Horticultural Society was held recently. Mr J. S. Ainsworth presided. The secretary reported on the arrangements for the spring show on October 8. and that Mr G. Lewis (Christchurch) had offered to judge. . A competition of blooms of felspar for a special prize given by Mr W. E. I Chadwick drew eight entries. The results were:—C. C. Chanman 1, M. Whittington 2, A. E. Beardsley consolation. I A lecture on the planting and cul-1 tivation of daffodils and a demonstrsr- I tion of staging blooms for show were given by Mr Chadwick. j
