GOOD FINANCIAL POSITION

ASHBURTON CRICKET CLUB ELECTION OF OFFICERS A good financial position at the end of last season was reported at the annual meeting of the Ashburton Cricket Club last evening. Mr J. B. Nicoll presided. The annual report said that there was £5 11s 9d in the club’s bank account, and accounts amounting to £ll 10s were still owing to the club. An increase in membership for the 1937-38 season gave the club a good number of players to choose from, and all practices were well attended. One team was entered in the senior competition of the Ashburton County Cricket Association, and had a successful season, being runner-up in the senior championship. Seven members secured county representative honours during the season.

Hamilton; delegate to Ashburton Sports Association. Mr A. A. Todd; auditor, Mr W. B. Thomas.

It was decided to oppose the proposal -that the competitions comprise two-day matches. It was agreed to enter one team in the senior competition.

BIBLE CLASS TEA AT DORIE

The members of the Dorie Bible Class organised a successful tea recently There was a large attendance. Items were given by Miss Shiela McKii (song), and Mr C. Wilson (recitation) A talk, entitled "Can we believe our Bibles?" was given by Mr Wilson After the tea members listened to z radio service from the East Belt Methodist Church.

RAKAIA PRESBYTERIAN BIBLE CLASS

Miss M. Lee presided at a meeting of the Rakaia Presbyterian Bible Class on Wednesday evening, when the study was taken on "The High Priestlj Prayer of Christ." Miss M. Ashford took an assignment, and the Rev. D. B. Ashford led the study. Notice was given of the Rev. Mr Davies' visit to Ashburton. It was decided to hold the next' Bible Class meeting next Thursday, instead of on Wednesday.
